A Book of the Future: A Maze is a collaboration piece between Stacey Levine and Julia Freeman.
Both writer and artist created new works in response to each others’ previous work, conversations, and new interests.
The topic of “book” was turned into the metaphor of a maze, where similar to a book, you enter not knowing the ending. As a reader, you enter into this maze trusting the authors will guide you through.
A new written piece was created in response to the idea of a “book as a maze” that is linear as well as cyclical.
In place of words, small sculptures were created as symbols that were to interpret the words meaning, texture and essence.
These small sculptures were are sometimes literal translations, other times idiosyncratic.
Their representation similar to the way we hold on to, favor or understand a word in our own world.
